What is Cognielo, in one sentence?
Cognielo is an AIOS — Artificial Intelligence Operating System — that runs 20 surfaces (8 life-domain apps + 11 ecosystem & utility apps + Hub) on one encrypted substrate on your phone. Cognielo's operators cannot read what's stored, by construction.
How is this different from Apple Intelligence?
Apple Intelligence runs across Apple's domains. Cognielo runs across the 500 partner connectors that aren't in Apple's ecosystem — banks, EHR portals, tax software, legal records, social platforms, government portals. Different scope, different moat. Apple Intelligence is complementary, not competitive.
What's the AI model? Are you Anthropic-owned?
Claude by Anthropic, default. Provider-agnostic by architecture — the Coach lane sees only counts and categorical flags, never per-record content (patent claim 10). We're not Anthropic-owned. We are in early relationship-building conversations; nothing announced.
What about subpoenas?
A subpoena to Cognielo for user X's data gets the attorney general an encrypted blob and a politely-worded letter saying we cannot decrypt it. The bytes are encrypted under user-held keys. Patent claim 1.14 covers the WebRTC peer-to-peer layer. Same energy as Apple's San Bernardino response.
What if Cognielo gets hacked?
The data on our servers is encrypted under per-device keys we don't hold. A breach gets the attacker an encrypted blob with no key. The threat model accepts breach as possible — and makes it useless. That's the Breachless property (claims 1.25 + 1.27 + 1.28).
What if Cognielo goes bankrupt?
That's exactly the 23andMe scenario we built against. The encrypted store on our servers has zero asset value to a bankruptcy court — they cannot read or sell it. Users walk away with their .elo exports and their data intact (patent claim 8).
Why no ads, ever?
Math. The unit economics close at over 90% gross margin against Anthropic token pass-through across the SKU ladder. We can pay our bills by selling the product. We don't need to monetize the user. The no-ads posture is permanent.
What's the pricing in one paragraph?
Free → Plus $4.99/app/mo → Pro $8.99/app/mo. Best-Deal Floor: pick 4+ apps Plus → auto-bundles to Plus Everything ($14.99/mo, all 20 apps). Pick 4+ apps Pro → auto-bundles to Pro Everything ($29.99/mo, all 20 apps). Family Plus Everything $22.99/mo, Family Pro Everything $59.99/mo (up to 6 household members). Founders Lifetime $599.99 once, 1,000-seat hard cap. Teams $15/seat/mo, 10-seat minimum. Regulated $2,500/mo for HIPAA/SOC 2. Cryptelo always free. Annual is 12× monthly with a 12-month price freeze. Full ladder at pricing.
What happens if I hit the monthly Coach quota?
Each tier has a transparent monthly Sonnet-turn budget (200 Sonnet turns on Pro Everything, 50 on Plus Everything, etc.) plus unlimited Haiku turns. When you exceed your Sonnet quota, your Coach drops into Quick mode (Haiku) for the rest of the month. Your data, your privacy, your plan — all unchanged. Quota resets on the 1st. The quota exists so we can defend over-90% gross margins on your subscription without ever needing ads or data sales. Full table on the pricing page.
When does it launch?
Founders Lifetime pre-sale opens Wed Jun 24, 2026 (subject to USPTO and App Store readiness). Public launch Wed Jul 15, 2026. iOS 17+, iPadOS, watchOS at launch. Mac Catalyst on roadmap. Android and web are out of scope at launch.
Is the patent real?
Yes. U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 64/041,821, filed April 16, 2026. 23 claims, with 8 worked-example anchors readable in our public source repo. Non-provisional due April 16, 2027. Read the claim ladder at patent.
What's a "worked-example anchor"?
A specific source file in the public repo that substantiates a claim. For example, claim 1.13 (Passelo zero-knowledge AutoFill) is anchored by PasseloStore.swift and a structural test (testClaim1_13_AutoFillReturnsMatchedSubsetOnly) that proves the claim holds. No competitor publishes their substrate boundary in source. Ours is open.
What's stopping a competitor from copying you?
The patent. The architecture. The substrate-first build order. Catalog-first builds become the next 23andMe — they accumulate connectors before they have a substrate to absorb them safely. Substrate-first means months of building before shipping a single source. We chose substrate-first; we got there first. By the time a competitor ships a substrate, our catalog is at 1,000 sources.
Why iOS first, not web or Android?
iOS-class Secure Enclave + StoreKit + HealthKit + Apple Family Sharing give us the cryptographic primitives, billing rails, and platform integrations to ship the architecture honestly on day one. The Rust core (elo-core) makes web and Android feasible later. We chose to ship one platform well before three platforms partially.
What's "Data Sovereignty" exactly?
The user is the constitutional authority over their own data. Stronger than GDPR — the user is the controller, full stop. Cognielo holds no master key, no derived keys, no plaintext copy. See the brand quartet for the longer explanation.
Why "20 apps" — I thought it was 7?
20 is the canonical count as of 2026-04-27 (founder lock). 8 life-domain apps drive the cross-app dial math (Savelo, Healthelo, Legelo, Workelo, Homelo, Learnelo, Miscelo, Socielo). 11 ecosystem & utility apps participate in the substrate via grant table (Calelo, Petelo, Drivelo, Walletelo, Cryptelo, Shopelo, Muselo, Browselo, Compelo, Passelo, Chatelo). Plus Hub. Earlier docs that say "7" or "16" are pre-2026-04-27 drafts.
What does Cognielo not do?
No ads. No web app at launch. No Android at launch. No FHIR export at launch (Pro tier roadmap). No P2P Family Drop at launch (queued post-launch). No Dead Man's Switch / emergency-access at launch. No Anthropic partnership announced (relationship-building only).
How do I get on the waitlist?
Email field at the bottom of the home page. One email when TestFlight opens. No drip campaign.
How do I report a security issue?
security@cognielo.com. 48-hour response on weekdays. Hall-of-fame credit. Lifetime Pro for first 100 validated severity-1 / severity-2 reports. See the full security policy.
Who runs Cognielo?
Three founders. Justin McNichol (CEO / CTO), Doug Gordy (CIO / CISO), Garrett Main (CMO / CRO). Greeley, Colorado. Elo AI is the company. (Justin's separate consulting firm, AeroPoint Consulting, is unrelated to Cognielo.)
